My distinctive visual vocabulary combines photograMs and photographs with a variety of historic and modern technologies to create extra-ordinary imagery that clearly stands out in the marketplace and demands the viewer's attention.
The photograM uses the shape and shadow of the objects to create mysterious yet recognizable and distinctive images. I use technologies as varied as 19th century wet-plate collodion negatives and 21st century digital capture and manipulation.
I have been making photograMs for fine-art and commercial purposes for over 20 years in a style that makes the viewer look and think and really take note, successfully illustrating abstract services and everyday products.
I work with my clients to determine appropriate imagery and symbols that will effectively communicate their message clearly yet uniquely. Once the subjects and props are chosen we proceed to pencil sketches refining the concept and imagery, constantly honing the message. After the pencil sketches are approved by the client I acquire props which are then taken into the studio and darkroom to create the photograms.
This combination of my style with old technologies and modern techniques creates a look that is old and yet fresh, familiar, and but distinctive.
